Celebrating CiteScore Success and the Community Behind It

(Toronto, June 13, 2025) – JMIR Publications is delighted to announce its outstanding results in the latest Scopus CiteScore rankings. This year, 26 of our journals have been awarded a CiteScore, a reflection of the high-quality, impactful research published across our portfolio. These results reinforce our commitment to advancing the digital health landscape.
While we are proud of these achievements, we believe a journal's true impact is multifaceted. CiteScore is one valuable citation-based metric, but we encourage authors and researchers to consider a combination of factors when evaluating a journal's influence and standing.
A Closer Look at the 2025 Results
The rankings, which use Scopus data from 2021 to 2024, highlight the strength and growth across our journals.
First-Time Scores: Congratulations to the teams behind the three journals that have achieved their first-ever CiteScore: JMIR AI, JMIR Biomedical Engineering, and the Online Journal of Public Health Informatics. We are especially proud that JMIR AI entered the rankings with a strong Q2 placement!
Top-Tier Performance: A total of 12 JMIR Publications journals are ranked in the first quartile (Q1) of their fields, with six of those placing in the top 10% of their respective subject categories.
Consistent Growth: Demonstrating continuous improvement, 16 of our journals saw their CiteScore increase year-over-year. Journals showing upward movement in quartile rankings include JMIR Perioperative Medicine (Q2), Asian/Pacific Island Nursing Journal (Q2), and JMIR Diabetes (Q2).
A Commitment to Quality Open Science
These impressive results would not be possible without the unwavering dedication of our community. As Tiffany I Leung, MPH, MD, FAMIA, scientific editorial director of JMIR Publications, states, “Seeing our portfolio grow to 26 ranked journals, while maintaining a dozen in the top quartile, is a direct result of the high-caliber research our community produces. Our mission-driven staff and editors, alongside our dedicated authors, reviewers, and partners, are key to our journals' influential positions.” Leung continues, “We’re grateful for their shared commitment to advancing open science in health and medicine.”
We celebrate these rankings as one of the many indicators of our journals' influence and thank our entire community for their commitment to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed, open access science that is shaping the future of digital health.
